GeauxTV is a web platform startup for streaming live TV channels. The aim of this project was to redesign the website for an improved user experience and refreshed visual design that aligns with GeauxTV's identity.
Balancing stakeholder expectations is a critical aspect of the redesign process. The challenge lies in navigating and aligning stakeholder perspectives and requests with the needs of the end-user. To address this, we regularly held feedback sessions which proved instrumental in managing expectations effectively and ensuring alignment throughout the redesign process. Some takeaways from this project:

Role
Users found it confusing to naviagte the website. Prevously, the menu bar at the top had a "Player" tab that led to all the channels GeauxTV featuers. I changed the name of the tab to "Channels" instead to better signify its content. Previously, users could only access the sign-up option through the "Player" tab, causing confusion. To improve the intuitiveness of the sign-up process, I introduced a dedicated "Sign Up" tab directly into the menu, ensuring a more straightforward and user-friendly experience. Additionally, I have designed the contact us page to have three distinct options—such as "I want to send a message to GEAUX," "I want to advertise on GEAUX," and "I want to report an issue". Doing so enhances the user experience by providing clarity and streamlining communication. This approach not only tailors the user experience but also facilitates improved internal workflow for the company, directing inquiries to the appropriate teams.
To effectively plan the redesign, I constructed some user flow diagrams dedicated to mapping out the experiences of commonly encountered user tasks. I used the user flows to inform my design decisions and prioritize elements essential for a positive streaming experience. This methodical approach allowed me to align the interface design with the user's needs and streamline their journey with GeauxTV.

Inconsistency
Users felt overwhelmed by excessive information and a rapid delivery. Moreover, the existing design showcased a video in the hero section that automatically played upon entering the website, causing confusion as there was no accompanying context provided. To address these concerns, I removed the video in the hero section and instead add a sentence that introduces the platform to the user. The new design also improves navigation and comprehension by organizing content into featured channels, trending shows, coming soon, and top creators, creating a clear visual hierarchy. Interactive elements, such as the ability to view show details and descriptions upon hovering, facilitate exploration without cluttering the interface.
As the sole member of the design team for GeauxTV, I took the lead in both UX and UI. I analyzed user feedback, crafted a design kit to ensure consistency, enhanced platform usability, organized content for improved navigation, and created interactive prototypes to visualize the user journey and test functionality—all while meeting the specific design preferences outlined by the website owner for a colorful and vibrant brand identity.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/mira-saleh-930b32244/To tackle issues related to design inconsistency, I developed a comprehensive design kit encompassing button designs, icons, color schemes, and font specifications for headers, subheaders, body text, and other textual elements. This design kit serves as a centralized resource, offering a standardized set of visual components, which, when consistently applied, ensures a cohesive and uniform design language throughout the project.
